Hi Sharon:

Do you have any update on the proposed Legal Aid Clinic for the Bahamas Conference?

Hi Elder Deveaux,

The process has taken a bit longer than the Steering Committee for the Association of Adventist Lawyers (the Committee) ever anticipated. However, our efforts to have both the Association and the Legal Aid Clinic formally organised are continuing and members of the Committee have recently increased their efforts to finalise the requisite documentation for operation of the Legal Aid Clinic.

The present proposal is to have a Clinic at least two Sundays of each month where members of the Adventist Church in The Bahamas are able to come in and seek legal advice from trained Adventist Attorneys and where necessary obtain further legal assistance either from the Attorney consulted at the Clinic or another Adventist Attorney where possible. We hope to be in a position to release full details and/or commence the operation of the Clinic in early 2010.

Please note however that members of the Committee have been addressing legal issues brought to their attention for some time now. Anyone needing legal advice can feel free to contact the conference office, who will direct the enquirer to the relevant conference official (Pastor Paul Scavella or yourself) who will then pass it on to a member of the Committee for assistance. Alternatively, persons can solicit assistance from members of this group in the Fellowship Hall at any time.

Ms. Rahming:

Thank you very kindly for the updated information. You and the committee members must be commended for the work you have done to bring this project this far. Thanks also for the advise and assistance that you now give to our members. I am sure that the entire membership will be appreciative of this additional avenue to get legal advise on various matters. Thanks again for the update.
