Herbert Fletcher
Pastor Fletcher was a Father figure on campus to me. Having spent many Sabbaths at his home while others might have had a relationship from a distance, I sat at his table and shared many a conversation with him. His sermons always had three points. One two and thirdly. This made life comfortable when it came to him preaching for we knew that we could time him.
He was always neat. Wanted the best for you and while his strict ways sometimes was a bit overbearing, one new that it was because he saw what you could not see at the time for you. You had to earn your stripes with him but once you proved to be responsible forht right and a thinker he was the best friend to have. As MV leader on the campus for two years I wanted to take the entire campus to Mandeville to witness sing pass out tracts. To do this would mean getting His approval. I prevailed upon His administration until approval was given. some five hundred students would march down to Mandeville with guitars singing and praising God praying and giving out tracts. And all returning without incident. Elder Fletcher had to approve that. To his family we offer sincere condolences and our prayers are with the family.
